For almost 40 years, ASCA has been a leader in providing education, training, and support to higher education professionals across all areas of regulatory compliance including student conduct and Title IX. Building upon that legacy, ASCA launched its Title IX Certificate Program – a multi-track, multi-level training initiative focused on building the core competencies and skills necessary for professionals serving in various Title IX roles.

The Title IX Certificate Program consists of three separate tracks designed to focus on the three major roles within the Title IX process: the Title IX Coordinator Track, Investigator Track, and Decision-Maker and Appeals Track. Developed by leaders in student conduct and Title IX fields, each track features three different levels, each balancing lecture-based learning with the practical application of learned skills through evolving case studies and real-work examples. Though these tracks use Title IX as the organizational framework, the concepts explored and skills developed are applicable to professionals working across all areas of regulatory compliance including student conduct, Title VI, and non-Title IX sexual misconduct. The Title IX Certificate Program is not only designed to meet your institution’s annual training obligations, but to provide high-quality education and professional development designed and facilitated by practitioners, for practitioners.

Investigator Track
The Investigator Track focuses on the core skills and functions necessary for those responsible for complex investigations including interviewing strategies, evidence organization, and drafting thorough investigation reports. Advanced concepts include trauma-informed interviewing considerations, effective party communications, and advanced writing techniques designed to increase report quality and clarity.

Decision-Maker and Appeals Track
The Decision-Maker and Appeals Track explores the requisite skills for Title IX and student conduct professionals tasked with issuing well-written decisions.

Title IX Coordinator Track
The Title IX Coordinator Track provides a deep-dive into the day-to-day responsibilities of managing all aspects of the Title IX process including incoming report evaluation, administering supportive measures, and managing live hearings. As the levels increase, this Track explores the additional compliance duties of Title IX Coordinators including the complexities associated with employee matters, campus-wide training and prevention strategies, and athletic compliance requirements. Other advanced topics include the design and development of informal resolution processes, Clery compliance and annual reporting requirements, and non-Title IX case administration.
